For times when you need even more space than the regular Audi A8 L offers, the manufacturer has built a one-off extended version with six seats and an extra metre in length.
Made at the request of a European customer, the XXL model now measures more than 6m long and boasts three pairs of doors – one for each row of seats.
Despite the torsional rigidity challenges presented by extending an Audi A8, the firm has managed to incorporate a 2.4m glass panel into the roof to enhance the feeling of spaciousness.
Each row of seats gets a sun blind, while the front and rear lights incorporate small side marker lights – a legal requirement for vehicles of this length.
Despite an extensive use of aluminium in the manufacturing of the extended A8 (as per the regular model), it weighs a hefty 2,418kg when unladen.
Power comes from Audi’s 3.0-litre TFSI V6 petrol engine, producing 310hp and accelerating the limo to 62mph in 7.1 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155mph.
Audi hasn’t revealed how much it’s charging for the one-off model – although it has hinted that more could follow.
