Facebook is launching a football game to celebrate a summer of soccer.
It's not unlike the hugely popular basketball
game, which was hidden in the Facebook Messenger app.
David Marcus, who oversees Messenger shared
the news on Facebook today.
He wrote: "Our little Messenger game
we launched for March Madness and the NBA season was played over 1 billion
times (!) over the course of the last 3 months.
"Since you loved it so much, and it's the
Euro 2016 & Copa America... You get where I'm going...! It's on!"
In the game, you get to play football with
your friends.
How to play the football game
1. Update your version of Messenger
2.
Send a football emoji to your friends
3.
Tap the emoji once it has sent
4.
Start playing football!
The same is true for the basketball game, but
with a basketball emoji instead of a football emoji.
Basketball isn’t the first hidden game on
Facebook Messenger. A secret chess game can be activated if you type
“@fbchess play” into a conversation with somebody, with written commands
directing the pieces.
Unfortunately for those who use Messenger
within Facebook on the web, or its sleeker Messenger.com website, the game
is mobile-only.
