Google in Modi's Plan
Google has framed a new plan to create awareness about importance of yoga among common man at the global level. Publicity will be given to India's history, culture and tradition under the plan, said Chetan Krishnaswamy, country head (public policy), Google India, inaugurating a three-day workshop for 500 NSS officers/volunteers of RGUHS organized by SDM Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences College, Ujire here on Sunday.As per directions given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, steps will be taken to publicise yoga in schools using internet, he said. A special programme will be drawn up using help from Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, he said. With advent of technology, 400 million are using Internet and another 200 million are accessing Internet on their smart phones. This is making people prone to various health issues, cure for which is in yoga to provide, he said.
D Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, who presided over the function, advised the students to build up a strong resolve and thereby not fall prey to personal vices. "Regular practice of yoga will help bring mental equilibrium among youth, and create new zest for life," he said adding it is indeed fortunate that yoga has got it due at global level through the International Day of Yoga now celebrated on June 21.
One can raise their level of performance in any field by continuous and daily practice of yoga in addition to preserving one's health, Heggade added. Dr B Vasanth Shetty, NSS coordinator advised the NSS volunteers to make full use of knowledge earned by them in the camp in their personal lives. Gananath Shetty Yekkar, state NSS programme officer said camp should help students build humane values in addition to increasing their knowledge and skills.
